My dog Willie is
one of my best friends. He has been at my side for ten years, since
he was about 6 months old. He was found on the streets of Phoenix,
Arizona, by a rescue group called the Animal Benefits Club. I was
one of the veterinarians working with them and
when they brought me Willie, he was suffering with Parvovirus, an
often deadly viral disease that attacks the intestinal system. We
treated him and luckily we were able to
pull him through.
My wife and I decided we wanted to adopt him. The rescue group
screened us and found us to be worthy parents. He looks like a very
large version of Benji, the dog in the movie and play "Annie". I
have guessed him to be a cross between a Golden Retriever and an
Airedale. What I do know is he is the best kind of dog to have;
an abandoned dog, rescued by a great group of people, nurtured and
healed by others who love dogs, and adopted by an adoring family.
A happy story? You bet. I hope this section helps you enjoy that
perfect life with your canine pet. And I would love to hear the
stories of how you came to own your particular pet and
any interesting experiences you have had.
